Marrakech, Telouet, Ait Ben Haddou, Todra Gorges, Merzouga, Ouzina desert, Draa Valley, Ouarzazate, Marrakech
Marrakech and the Sahara desert in 4 days: this package crosses the High Atlas to the dunes and back. You see the Telouet kasbah, Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate, the Valley of Roses and the road of a thousand kasbahs. Then you visit the Todra Gorges, the Merzouga and Ouzina deserts and the Draa Valley.
We leave Marrakech over the Tichka pass and cross Ouarzazate. Then we discover Skoura, in the heart of the palm valley, with a walk in its lush oasis. From here, we make an excursion to the Dades Gorges. After that, we skirt Boumalne on a road lined with red and mauve kasbahs and ksour. Stony plateaus surround them, where camels graze. Finally, after a route full of oases and palm trees, we reach Tinghir, at 1,350 m. Overnight in a riad.
First, we visit the Todra Gorges, whose walls narrow and rise up to 300 metres. Then we drive to Tinejdad and the Ksar of Touroug in its oasis. Next, we cross the Jorf palm grove to Erfoud, home of the best dates in the country. Later, we reach the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga. From there, we follow the old Dakar rally track to the dunes of Ouzina. Overnight in the Kasbah Ouzina hotel or in a Berber tent, as you prefer.
Today we follow the Paris-Dakar route to the Saharan regions south of Jebel Saghro. Then we reach Mcissi, a remote town in the heart of the black desert. After that, a track leads us to Alnif across a desert landscape. Later, we pass the Tazzarine palm grove and the villages of Jebel Tizouguirine, as well as N’Kob and Tansikht, with their views and kasbahs. Finally, we enter the Draa Valley, a green path of about 250 km into the desert. Overnight in a guesthouse in the heart of the valley.
We leave Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Morocco, to visit the famous kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a fortified town with beautiful decorated towers. Then we return via Telouet and the Tizi n’Tichka pass, through the heart of the Atlas. On the way down, you enjoy an exceptional view over the Haouz plain. Finally, we arrive back in Marrakech, at the end of your trip to Marrakech and the Sahara desert.
